COMPUTER STUDIES PRACTICAL (Paper III) Instructions: (i) Use computer system to answer the question. (ii) Use Microsoft Excel to perform the task. (iii) No content of the candidates' work should be the same. (iv) You are required to print out the hard copy(ies) of your work. Reproduce the spreadsheet document of a cost schedule as shown below and perform the underlying tasks. APPLICATION: (i) Provide the income values of your choice for the months of June to December ranging between ₦3,000 to ₦10,000. (ii) Provide the expenditure values of your choice for the months of June to December ranging from ₦2,000 to ₦5,000. Note: The months of September and December should result in a loss similar to the month of April. (iii) Compute and key in the profit or loss for the months of June to December. Note: (a) Profit = Income − Expenditure. (b) Loss = Expenditure − Income. (iv) Give the formula and corresponding results of the following: (a) The total income (b) The total expenditure (c) The sum of profits from the months of May to August.

Diagram for question 1

Model answer

Type the table into Microsoft Excel with columns A to E (MONTHS, INCOME, EXPENDITURE, PROFIT, LOSS) and rows 2 to 14 (January to December, then TOTAL). Sample values within the allowed ranges: Month: Income / Expenditure / Profit / Loss June: 6000 / 3000 / 3000 / - July: 8000 / 4000 / 4000 / - August: 9000 / 5000 / 4000 / - September: 4000 / 5000 / - / 1000 October: 7000 / 3000 / 4000 / - November: 5000 / 2000 / 3000 / - December: 3000 / 4000 / - / 1000 (September and December each give a loss of ₦1,000, the same as April.) (iii) Profit in D7: =IF(B7>C7,B7-C7,"-") Loss in E7: =IF(C7>B7,C7-B7,"-") Copy both down to row 13. (iv) (a) Total income: =SUM(B2:B13) gives 27,000 + 42,000 = 69,000. (b) Total expenditure: =SUM(C2:C13) gives 21,500 + 26,000 = 47,500. (c) Sum of profits from May to August: =SUM(D6:D9) gives 2,000 + 3,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 = 13,000. Save the work and print the hard copy.

Basic Science 2023 Theory — Question 2

TECHNICAL DRAWING (Paper IV) Instructions: Answer all questions. Use all the necessary drawing instruments and materials. All dimensions are in millimetres. Credit will be awarded for good draughtsmanship. Show all the construction lines. 1a. Draw on the sheet provided, the borderlines and a title block with the following information: (a) Name (b) School (c) Examination number (d) Scale used (e) Date. 1b. Use the following steps to construct a triangle: (i) Draw line AB = 70mm. (ii) Construct angle 60° at A. (iii) Draw line AC = 80 mm at 60° to line AB. (iv) Draw line CB. (v) Measure CB.

Model answer

1a. Draw a border about 10 mm inside the edge of the sheet. Draw the title block along the bottom of the border and write in it: Name, School, Examination number, Scale used (for example 1:1) and Date. 1b. Construction: (i) Draw AB = 70 mm with a ruler and mark A and B. (ii) With the compass point at A, draw an arc cutting AB at P. With the same radius and the point at P, draw an arc cutting the first arc at Q. Join A to Q and extend it. Angle QAB = 60°. (iii) On line AQ measure AC = 80 mm. (iv) Join C to B. (v) Measure CB with a ruler. CB = 75.5 mm (checked by calculation: CB² = 70² + 80² − 2 × 70 × 80 × cos 60° = 4900 + 6400 − 5600 = 5700, so CB ≈ 75.5 mm).
