1(b) The isometric view of a block is shown (50 deep, 80 long, 15 lip, 40 back height). With the arrow T as the front view, draw full size in first angle projection: (i) the front elevation (ii) the plan (iii) the left side elevation.
Model answer
Assumption: the block is a stepped (L-shaped) block, with a low lip in front and a taller back, read from the dimensions given. 1. Draw the XY line and project all views in first angle projection (plan below the front elevation, left side elevation placed to the right of the front elevation). 2. Front elevation: draw a rectangle 80 mm long. Make it 40 mm high at the back part and 15 mm high at the lip, showing the step as an outline. 3. Project vertical lines from the front elevation down to draw the plan: 80 mm long by 50 mm deep. Draw the step edge as a visible line. 4. Left side elevation: project horizontally from the front elevation and use the 50 mm depth from the plan (with a 45° mitre line) to draw the side profile. 5. Use thick outlines, thin construction lines and neat dimensions.
