10. If x = 1 is a root of the equation x³ - 2x² - 5x + 6 = 0, find the other roots (a) 1 & 3 (b) 3 & -2 (c) 2 & -2 (d) 2 & -3

  • A. 1 & 3
  • B. 3 & -2Correct
  • C. 2 & -2
  • D. 2 & -3

Explanation

Since x=1 is a root, (x-1) is a factor. Dividing gives x²-x-6, which factorises to (x-3)(x+2). So the other roots are x = 3 and x = -2.
