Calculate the temperature at the foot of a mountain 5000m high, if the temperature at the top is 7 degrees C.
- A. 14.5 degrees C
- B. 32.5 degrees C
- C. 39.5 degrees CCorrect
- D. 45.0 degrees C
Explanation
Temperature drops by about 6.5C for every 1000m of elevation. Temperature drop over 5000m = 6.5 x 5 = 32.5C. Temperature at the foot = 7C + 32.5C = 39.5 degrees C.
