(i) Elimination: the removal of undigested food substances (waste) from the body, also called egestion. (ii) Excretion: the removal of the waste products of metabolism from the body of an organism. (iii) Secretion: the release of useful substances (such as enzymes or hormones) by specialized cells or glands.
