Explanation

Using Graham's law of diffusion: T(CO2)/T(O2) = √(RMM CO2/RMM O2). RMM O2=32, RMM CO2=44. T(CO2)/8 = √(44/32) = 1.1726. T(CO2) = 8x1.1726 = 9.381s ≈ 9.4 seconds.
