1(a) Outline the roles played by King of Tyre in Solomon's preparations towards building of the temple. (1 Kings 5:1-12)

1. King Hiram of Tyre sent a delegation to congratulate Solomon on his anointing as king. 2. Solomon sent word to Hiram expressing his father David's inability to build God a house. 3. This was because of the many wars David had to fight. 4. Now the Lord had given Solomon peace on every side. 5. Solomon proposed to build God a house as promised to David by the Lord. 6. David's son, whom the Lord would put on the throne, would build the house. 7. Solomon asked that Hiram have cedar cut for him. 8. Solomon's servants would join Hiram's servants in the work. 9. Solomon would pay Hiram for the timber and the work. 10. Hiram was glad and praised God for giving David such a wise son. 11. Hiram agreed with Solomon's proposal. 12. Hiram's servants would cut the timber and make it into rafts. 13. The timber would be floated to the place Solomon directed.
