(i) The constitution of a country can be defined as a legal document or body of fundamental principles and rules by which the country is governed. The constitution usually spells out the major organs of government and power of government. (ii) Arms of government is functionally divided into three branches. These are the executives, the legislature and the judiciary. Executive is responsible or policy making implementation and enforcement of the law, the legislature is law making organ which judiciary is responsible for the interpretation and application of the laws. (iii) Political parties are organized group of people with a similar ideology working together with the aim of winning an election into public or political officers. Political parties seek to obtain political power and exercise control over the people and in the interest of the people. (iv) Armed forces are the institutions that protect the territorial integrity of a nation to prevent external attack, invades, smuggling in of illegal and harmful item. Examples: Army, Navy, the Airfare, Customs, Immigration etc. (v) Free press refers to the combination of newspaper, magazines, radio and television organizations who have freedom to report any event as express opinions.
