The Secretary-General functions as the chief administrative officer of the UN and therefore responsible for the coordination of the day to day running of the affairs of the organisation. ii. He/she prepares the agenda and the drafting of annual reports for the consideration of the General assembly. iii. The Secretary-General is the spokesperson for the organsation. iv. He/she appoints other member staff of the organisation. v. He/she represents the United Nations at international conferences. vi. He/she notifies the Security Council about issues he considered capable of threatening world peace.
