(b) Importance of decentralization: It brings government nearer to the people. It allows for more effective and prompt decision-making at the local level, since local officials better understand local needs. It reduces the burden of work on the central government. It encourages local participation in governance and promotes grassroots democracy. It aids the efficient and speedy delivery of services and development at the local level.
