The military as the armed force of a state can be defined as a tightly organised and highly disciplined body characterized by hierarchy of ranks and a culture of strict obedience. Simply put, it is the armed forces of the state, represented by the Army, Navy and Air Force. A military coup d'etat can be defined as the unconstitutional takeover of power or the overthrow of a government by the military.
