An object weighing 200kg hangs at the end of a rope. If g=9.8m/s², what is the acceleration, when the tension in the rope is 2000N?

  • A. 20m/s²
  • B. 25m/s²
  • C. 2000m/s²
  • D. 0.2m/s²Correct

Explanation

Resultant force = T−mg = 2000−200(9.8) = 2000−1960 = 40N. F=ma ⇒ a=40/200=0.2m/s².
