The main reason for writing this letter is to tell you about my future ambition and I hope you will love it. I would love to be a medical doctor. A medical doctor is a health professional who is qualified to diagnose and treat people who are ill. He promotes and maintains health. He also offers emergency care to his patients. To become a medical doctor in Nigeria, the student must successfully complete his secondary school education by passing the Senior School Certificate Examination and also obtain the required number of credits in all relevant subjects. The relevant subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Then, the student will apply to study Medicine by sitting for Joint Admission Matriculation Board examination as part of the requirements to gain admission into any Nigerian University. It is not news that Nigeria's health sector has deteriorated and a lot of people travel overseas for medical care. Therefore, I chose to become a medical doctor in order to improve Nigeria's health sector. People would no longer travel overseas for medical care and this would also boost Nigeria's economy. Patients would receive the best medical care in my hospital even at a cheap price. Becoming a medical doctor would reduce the death rate of accident victims in Nigeria. The rate at which accident victims lose their lives at various hospitals is alarming due to lack of professionalism. So, more hands are needed on deck at emergency response of which I would gladly help. I would also like to be involved in various medical researches in order to find better cure for some common illnesses like malaria, typhoid and many others. Partaking in various medical researches will also reduce importation of drugs as well as the price for Nigerian people. Nigerian made drugs would be reduced in price and have good quality for proper treatment of any ailment. Lastly, to enlighten the public about drug use and abuse is also part of the work of a medical doctor. I plan to work with the government and non-governmental organizations to educate people on how to use drugs so that they would not abuse it. I believe that becoming a medical doctor is a very good profession and it would make me happy and fulfilled. I would love you to write to me very soon about your future ambition as well. THE MENACE OF FAKE DRUGS IN THE SOCIETY Good morning, I am Adepemisola Johnson. I attend The Overcomers College Ibadan. I want to speak on the topic: The Menace of Fake Drugs in the Society. Fake drugs are medications that are produced and sold in order to deceive the consumer about the source, originality and efficiency. Fake drugs can also be called substandard drugs. That is, they contain too much or too little of the ingredients they are made from. They may not have production date and expiry date. Fake drugs are so deadly and are widely believed to be responsible for several health mishaps. There are several negative effects of fake drugs on both the consumer and the economy of the country where it is sold. One of the effects of fake drugs on the people that consume them is poisoning. If a substandard drug is consumed, the dangerous ingredients it was made from may lead to more damage to the health of the consumer. Fake drugs poisoning may also cause purging and vomiting. Purging and vomiting can also lead to loss of appetite, fatigue, and loss of weight. A substandard drug may compromise the treatment of infectious diseases, leading to prolonged treatment. For instance, the treatment of malaria usually takes three days if unadulterated drugs are used. But if fake drugs are administered in the treatment of malaria, symptoms may take a negative dimension which may make the treatment longer than three days. These prolonged treatments may make the patient tired and weak. Fake drugs may also lead to treatment failure and organ damage. Some toxic ingredients are not meant for human consumption or are to be consumed at extremely low quantity. Several victims of fake drugs have been sentenced to complicated health issues such as kidney failure, heart failure, damage to the liver due to excessive toxic ingredients in them. The use of fake drugs may also lead to death. If a patient complains to the doctor and malaria is diagnosed, if fake drugs are administered without knowing, the symptoms may persist longer than it should and may lead to severity of the symptoms and complications which may lead to the death of the patient. A wide spread of fake drugs in a country may also have negative effects on the country's economy. This is so because the producer of such drugs may not go through the appropriate means to register and distribute the drugs and by so doing evade tax. Tax evasion from the drug producing company would lead to loss of revenue on the part of the government. Therefore, the government may not be able to provide adequate social amenities for its citizens. Therefore, the government must intensify its efforts to eradicate the production, distribution and use of fake drugs. The masses must be sensitized on the negative effects of fake drugs and how to recognize them and also report to the appropriate authority.

On this occasion of the school's Diamond Jubilee, I would love to suggest areas where the school needs to improve in order to be up to date with twenty-first century academic standard. Firstly, we are in the digital age, so the school needs a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to transmit, store, create, share or exchange information, that is, Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Research has shown that Information and Communication Technology can lead to an improved student learning and better teaching methods. Some examples of the infrastructure needed are computers, laptops, printers, tablets, projectors, even a website for the school will be an additional advantage. These technologies deal with the transmission and reception of information of different kinds. They also make learning fun and make students active in the classroom. The second area I would love to suggest is sport. Organized sports participation helps in the development of physical skills such as general body coordination, movement skills and strength and keeps the body fit. Some of the sports include football, swimming, basketball, bicycling and gymnastics. These sports have positive impact with higher levels of attentiveness in and outside the classroom. They increase a student's ability to concentrate and recall. Sports also teach values such as fairness, teamwork and team building, discipline, and perseverance. The last but not the least of the areas the school needs to improve is skills acquisition. The students need to learn a lucrative skill which will give them the ability to perform different activities in a competent manner. Some of the skills they can acquire are tailoring, baking, knitting, tie and dye, hair dressing, painting and carpentry. These skills would help the students to improve their way of thinking and problem solving. They can also equip them for the future to become self-reliant. In conclusion, all these suggestions should be explored in order to expose the students to various learning activities and self-discovery. Good morning, the Chairman, Distinguish Guest, Ladies and Gentlemen. I am Ololade Tolulope. The Senior Prefect and the Representative of the students of Prime High School, Ile-Ife. I welcome you all to the Welcoming Ceremony of our new principal, Mr Adelowo Michael. On behalf of all the students of Prime High School, I welcome you sir to this great citadel of learning. Mr Adelowo Michael has been an educator for a long time. He has taught at different levels of education, ranging from Nursery and Primary School and Secondary School. He was the Head Teacher of Great Life Nursery and Primary School, Osogbo from April 2001 to July 2010. Then, he relocated to Ile-Ife where he taught at Success High School, Ile Ife from September 2010. He became the Head of Mathematics Department. During his time as the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Success High School won several Mathematics awards and competitions both at the State and National level and he remained successful in delivering positive results. As the Representative of all the students of Prime High School, I would love to call your attention to some of the areas that need improvement in order to take this school to the next level. The first is our toilet facility. Toilet represents a key pillar of environmental health. A clean toilet promotes cleanliness to students, but the toilet facility of this school does not promote cleanliness, all the semi-water cistern are old and dirty. They are also outdated and water no longer run in the toilet. This makes some students avoid going to the toilet but the nearby bush to do their business. This act alone has made our environment unhygienic. An unhygienic environment can cause infectious diseases. So, a modern toilet should be installed to make our school hygienic for us all. Secondly, the school hall needs renovation. The school hall is necessary because it serves several purposes. It is used as assembly hall, an auditorium where recreational activities and celebrations take place. It is also used for meetings and examination. Some of the activities and events that usually take place in the hall has been cancelled due to the poor state of the roof, the wall and importantly, the chairs. It will be of great joy for the students to see the glory of the school restored and activities resume. Lastly, the Department of English Language is in need of a functioning Language Laboratory. English Language Laboratory provides technical tools for the students to learn the pronunciation of the language in an easy way. It helps in learning the basic skills of the language through interactive videos. It helps the students to learn much faster and they are introduced to more resources and activities than in a traditional classroom. Finally, we are all delighted to have such an eligible person with such a good experience to be our Principal. We hope that with your energy, enthusiasm and focus, our school would achieve greater excellence under your leadership and guidance. Thank you very much indeed for the attention.

UNEASY LIES THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE CROWN Ajewole was a palm wine tapper in a village called Ojaa. Every time he passed at the front of the palace, he always wondered what the king - King Adeoye - was doing with his three wives and nine children. He would think of the fat and delicious food the king had in his kitchen. Whenever other villagers discussed and pitied the king, Ajewole would not be moved but claimed that the king was the happiest and most extravagant person he had ever known and that the king did not have any problem at all but to eat, have a meeting with his chiefs and sleep while the chiefs go around doing as the king commanded them. One day, the king and his servants disguised and went round the village to see how his people lived and their thoughts towards him. When he got to the village square, he met some men playing 'ayo' game. Then, he sat with them and told them that his name was Adeoye. He said he was from the neighbouring village. He further told them that he would love to know about their way of life that he is considering relocating to Ojaa village. Ajewole was the first to speak, he told the 'stranger' that he bore the same name as the king of Ojaa kingdom. He said further that he would love to become a king and enjoy has their king, King Adeoye. He told him of all his perception of the king. Then, King Adeoye revealed his identity. The men trembled and was afraid that they may be punished. But the king assured them that would not be punished. But the king said to Ajewole, 'you shall be king for one day'. Ajewole did not believe his ears, he thought the king was joking. The next morning, the king sent for him. King Adeoye told him to sit on the throne. Ajewole's joy knew no bond. He thought he would be the happiest man on Earth. King Adeoye went away. He saw himself as the happiest man on Earth. Has Ajewole felt relaxed on the throne, wishing he had more days to be the king, he heard a loud bang just above his head. It was a sharp sword hanging with a thin thread. He could no longer sit properly and he couldn't stand. He started sweating profusely begging the servants near him to remove the sword from above his head. No one answered him. He sent one of the servants to call King Adeoye. 'You cannot leave the throne until the day is ended; you have gotten what you wanted' was the reply the servant brought from King Adeoye. Ajewole remained on the throne, trembling. He thought he was the most unhappy person in the world. When it was dinner time, Ajewole was offered the best dishes in the palace but had no appetite for food. All he wanted was to go back home and enjoy his free life. He wished he could be one of the servants as he saw them moving freely with smile on their faces. He vowed never to see the king as the most carefree person. Later in the evening, King Adeoye came back into the palace. He saw how terrified and miserable Ajewole looked. He took pity on him and ordered the servants to take the sword away. He then warned him not to think that the king was the happiest person on Earth. Ajewole fell on his face and seek his forgiveness. He thanked King Adeoye and promised not to say ill of the king ever again. King Adeoye forgave him and let him go. The king taught Ajewole a useful lesson. He learnt that 'uneasy lies the Head that wears the crown'.
