AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY OLOLADE TOLULOPE, SENIOR PREFECT, PRIME HIGH SCHOOL, ILE ILE, AT THE WELCOMING CEREMONY THE NEW SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ON TUESDAY, 12TH AUGUST, 2022. Good morning, the Chairman, Distinguish Guest, Ladies and Gentlemen. I am Ololade Tolulope. The Senior Prefect and the Representative of the students of Prime High School, Ile-Ife. I welcome you all to the Welcoming Ceremony of our new principal, Mr Adelowo Michael. On behalf of all the students of Prime High School, I welcome you sir to this great citadel of learning. Mr Adelowo Michael has been an educator for a long time. He has taught at different levels of education, ranging from Nursery and Primary School and Secondary School. He was the Head Teacher of Great Life Nursery and Primary School, Osogbo from April 2001 to July 2010. Then, he relocated to Ile-Ife where he taught at Success High School, Ile Ife from September 2010. He became the Head of Mathematics Department. During his time as the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Success High School won several Mathematics awards and competitions both at the State and National level and he remained successful in delivering positive results. As the Representative of all the students of Prime High School, I would love to call your attention to some of the areas that need improvement in order to take this school to the next level. The first is our toilet facility. Toilet represents a key pillar of environmental health. A clean toilet promotes cleanliness to students, but the toilet facility of this school does not promote cleanliness, all the semi-water cistern are old and dirty. They are also outdated and water no longer run in the toilet. This makes some students avoid going to the toilet but the nearby bush to do their business. This act alone has made our environment unhygienic. An unhygienic environment can cause infectious diseases. So, a modern toilet should be installed to make our school hygienic for us all. Secondly, the school hall needs renovation. The school hall is necessary because it serves several purposes. It is used as assembly hall, an auditorium where recreational activities and celebrations take place. It is also used for meetings and examination. Some of the activities and events that usually take place in the hall has been cancelled due to the poor state of the roof, the wall and importantly, the chairs. It will be of great joy for the students to see the glory of the school restored and activities resume. Lastly, the Department of English Language is in need of a functioning Language Laboratory. English Language Laboratory provides technical tools for the students to learn the pronunciation of the language in an easy way. It helps in learning the basic skills of the language through interactive videos. It helps the students to learn much faster and they are introduced to more resources and activities than in a traditional classroom. Finally, we are all delighted to have such an eligible person with such a good experience to be our Principal. We hope that with your energy, enthusiasm and focus, our school would achieve greater excellence under your leadership and guidance. Thank you very much indeed for the attention.
