Cyclonic rainfall occurs in the tropics and temperate regions when two air masses of different characteristics meet and their turbulence creates rainfall. The warm, lighter, moisture-laden air rises over the cold, denser air; as it rises it expands and cools; at the dew/saturation point clouds form as the vapour condenses; the water droplets coalesce and become too heavy to remain suspended, and fall as cyclonic/frontal rainfall.
