13.(c) Given that w*u = w+u+1, and (y*4)*y = 12, find the value of y.
Model answer
y*4 = y+4+1 = y+5. (y+5)*y = (y+5)+y+1 = 2y+6 = 12 → 2y=6 → y=3.
