7(a) An account of how the prophecy of Joel was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:1-16) (11 marks) (b) In what two ways was the above incident significant? (4 marks)

(a) AN ACCOUNT OF HOW THE PROPHECY OF JOEL WAS FULFILLED ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST: i. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. ii. Suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. iii. There appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. iv. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. v. There were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. vi. At this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. vii. People who were in Jerusalem heard them speak in different tongues. viii. They were amazed and perplexed at the sayings while others thought that the disciples were filled with wine. ix. Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them. x. The men were not drunk as they supposed but they were fulfilling the prophecy of Prophet Joel. xi. That He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. (b) IN WHAT TWO WAYS WAS THE ABOVE INCIDENT SIGNIFICANT: i. It is a fulfillment of the prophecy of Prophet Joel. ii. It marks the fulfillment of the promise of the Holy Spirit by Jesus.
